Our clients have spent more than 570 years wrongfully incarcerated.
The following are case descriptions of some of the clients we have freed.
In respect of our clients wishes for privacy, or for legal reasons, not all of the clients we have freed are shown.
The California Innocence Project been involved in international casework for more than a decade. The Project has been deeply involved in assisting in the launching of innocence organizations around the world, particularly in Latin America (see REDInocente.org). The Project has also been involved in cases where innocent people are incarcerated outside the United States. However, due to the significant resources and expertise required in international cases, the California Innocence Project does not take on these cases alone, nor do we accept international cases for review directly from potential clients. In partnership with organizations such as the David House Agency, an international crisis resource organization, the Project has successfully freed wrongfully convicted clients across the globe, including Jason Puracal from Nicaragua, Grace and Matthew Huang from Qatar, and Scott McMahon from the Philippines.
